Honda launch the five-seat Fit EV car and do its lineup by adding an all-electric gadgets in car. It's based on the gas-powered Fit subcompact hatchback, but its features are it is an electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery pack which has a driving range of 76 miles on a single charge in combined city and highway driving. Unlike its chief competitor, the Fit EV will only be available for lease, with payments expected to be $399 per month.

Leased #162 on June 1st. I Was just approved for $2,500 this week July 29th. They said check is in mail or at least sometime within next 60 days. This gift keeps on giving...

Boy... they must have mailed out a bunch of checks at the same time. I just got mine too:

Yep, same here. Received my rebate check on Thursday (8/1/13). I leased on 6/1/13 and filed my paperwork almost immediately. Have my HOV stickers, my $2500 is in the bank, and all is right with the world except for getting my first month's PGE bill on the E9A schedule. I had been doing at least 5 full charges (from at least 10% to 100%) after midnight in the offpeak hours each week for the full cycle. I should probably start a thread for just how crappy PG&E has made my EV ownership. Because of our low level of kWh usage before owning an EV, roughly 450 kWh per month, the Fit EV charging has doubled our monthly usage since I commute in it 5 days a week and was using roughly 20 kWh's to charge it each night. I knew my usage would double, but I thought with the E9A TOU plan, our bill would only increase by about $40 to $50 per month. Instead it has gone up $160. Yes, our usage doubled, but our cost nearly tripled (from $90 to $250).

Because of the low baseline for our PG&E market (100 kWh per month), and being now in the E9A TOU schedule, we hit Tier 3 after only 5 charges. So after 1 week into our billing cycle, our peak usage when we get home from work, turn on the TV, cook dinner, run dishes, do laundry, etc, is now getting a rate of $0.30 to $0.50/kWh. If I'd done a better job of modeling the E9A schedule with our standard usage plus adding the EV usage, I would have known. I screwed up badly with my calcs because of 1 MAJOR change that I was unaware of at the time. That our baseline with the E9A schedule would be only 100 kWh (again, that is only 5 charges on the Fit EV battery). That baseline before on the E1 schedule was equivalent to 300 kWh per month. In all my research and all my forum reading, I must have completely missed it. I just want to warn all potential EV owners that have PG&E that they need to really check their math when trying to calculate the true cost of charging an EV at home. I have bought a folding bicycle just so I can charge at the public charging stations 2 miles from my work to avoid charging at home as much as possible.

@MHathaway - if you are routinely in tier 4 or higher - at least in the summer, the EV rate plan seems to be cheaper (I haven't done any analysis on winter rates and EV). Allegedly effective Aug 1. Worth a call to PG&E rate line to check. http://www.pge.com/tariffs/tm2/pdf/ELEC_SCHEDS_EV.pdf (apologies if you were using the graphic - it has some bugs)
