My company is moving locations which makes my commute go from 60 miles round trip to 70 miles round trip. Last winter, the cold weather even here in sunny Northern California had such a terrible effect on the battery that I would get home with between 1% and 5%. Since I know there's no way the Fit EV could handle my longer commute and since I'd already installed solar to cover the extra costs of charging my 20kwh battery every day, I decided to lease a RAV4 EV while they were still available. I will also add that there are no nearby charging stations at my current workplace, and it would be the same situation at my new workplace. Since this was my only car, I would not have any way of getting to work and back in the winter time in this car.

So now, I have the RAV4 EV, the Fit EV just sits lonely in the garage every day. I thought I might be able to lend it out to neighbors and such, or have some sort of use for it to justify the second lease payment, but now I've decided it would be best to just return it to Honda. Only problem would be that I would have to return the $2500 CVRP at a prorated amount. I thought I would just check and see if anyone here had any suggestions as to what I could do with the car.

Is it legal to put a leased vehicle on Getaround (www.getaround.com)?

I would return the car to Honda and let them re-lease it for two years to someone who is dying to get one. My dealer now has a waiting list for returned Fit EV's!

Is there anyway you can charge on 120v while at work? That is what I do for my 60 mile commute and I fully expect it to give me the added mileage I need to get me home on the coldest of days. I use an extension cord (12 gauge) I believe with the supplied 120v charger and have had no trouble at all charging it this way. We have a small parking lot so I am never more than about 50 feet away from an outlet. I hope you can work it out. I would still hang on to the car anyway, but that is just me.

I'm finding out as well right now what to do... One option is Early Turn in on the vehicle. I praying that I can turn it in..

Commute for work is now 130 miles one way... For Torrance to Van Nuys it was great... but Torrance to Bakersfield not going to happen :P

Good luck. I feel for you. That's a lot of your life spent sitting in a car. :?

You should look into a Tesla and use the FREE Super Charger halfway between and won't have to charge a home. Just the gas savings would probably for most of your Telsa monthly payments.
