Our high-rate, wall mounted charger suddenly stopped working.

I have tried interrupting mains power at the service panel, but it has not made any difference.

I noted that each time I reconnect the charging plug to our Model 4S, year 2014, the green LED on the charging port blinks 7 times, and then goes out. I suspect that this might provide information as a fault code(?)

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Grant.

PS : the search function on this forum seems pretty much unusable, which is a pity. No way to determine if this subject has been raised earlier.

Grant,
If the indicator light on the port blinks "slowly" then goes off (~15 sec), then you may have a timer set (delayed charging).

If it blinks "rapidly" for 15 seconds, it indicates a charging fault.

See page 171 of the owners manual on charging, or pg 182 on setting timers.

Does the car charge OK on other EVSE's? (if you've been able to test it).

Gary, you totally rock!

Following your procedure, problem solved.

How this setting got changed is beyond me. Thank you so much, and have a great end to '15 and start to '16.

Grant.

Hi both - we have a Leviton 240V unit from 3+ years back too, and yesterday something inside (capacitor?) blew up with enough force to knock off the door lock... fortunately no other damage visible but charred door... Worried (as it could happen to others) and have sent Leviton a note

Can you give us more details please? Indoor or outdoor installation? What state are you in? High ambient heat can cause capacitors to burst.

Hi - i received a new charger from Leviton after a varistor in the 3yr old one blew up. Recently we noticed the car was no longer charging immediately on plugin (as its set up to do). The green Wall unit Power light flashes 3 times when initially plugged into car, but then nothing - no charging activity. I spoke to Ken Brown at Leviton, who designed the charger unit, and he feels its something to do with the electricity supply in our house (i have lots of other sensitive electrical gear, but those havent experiened any issues at all) Also cant get the key fob or the app to initiate charging...

Can anyone help??

The first thing to do is to make sure that your charge timer isn't set to on. You may not have set it, but that doesn't mean it's not on. The car will not charge if the charge timer is set.

Yes - there is no charge timer set - its set to charge immediately on plugin

Does the fob indicate charge level? interior temp.? What is the error code on the fob when trying to start charging?

If the fob doesn't connect to the car (no answer to the above), go to the dealer. Sounds like a trip to the dealer, no matter what, anyway.

Thanks for the ideas. Finally figured it out: the plugin connection to the car is new, and the spring for the blue latch button is probably not as strong as the previous one. So, when plugging in, the latch wasn't fully engaging the proximity sensor (even though you could hear it click in) and just gently pulling up the blue latch button starts the charging... Very irritating!
